Next gig Tues 15 November

My next solo show is on Tuesday 15 November at The BUG (Brisbane Unplugged Gigs), New Farm Bowls Club, BRISBANE.

Folk and acoustic music every Tuesday night at New Farm Bowls with Brisbane Unplugged Gigs (The BUG).
7.30pm – Blackboard (2 x 10 minute spots)
The blackboard segment is first in first served.

8.15pm until 9.00pm CHANEL LUCAS
Warm, pure vocals and gentle folk guitar are Chanel’s signature sound. Her music allows you to stop and take a breath, and enjoy the moments outside of the busy day-to-day. A writer and songwriter, she has travelled across the world with Brisbane folk-pop act ‘women in docs.’ Recently, she has been learning to play the ukulele and writing songs for a solo project.

9.15pm until 10.00pm SILVER SIRCUS
Silver Sircus haunts the shadows between dark cabaret and theatrical performance. With a sensual and highly visual aesthetic, the band draws on post-rock and minimalist groove to carve its own niche. As much at home in a large venue as an intimate cabaret or spoken word setting, co-creators Lucinda Shaw and James Lees stitch together each distinctive Silver Sircus show.

$8/$5 Concession on the door. Super cheap drinks for club members – anyone can become a member for $5. Full bar & great food available too. Families welcome.

Neurum Creek Music Festival

My next show is at Neurum Creek Music Festival. I’m playing around 12.30pm on SATURDAY 13 SEPT.

Neurum Creek Music Festival is a local acoustic music camping weekend held at Neurum Creek Bush Retreat in September each year. The 2014 festival will be held on the weekend of the 12, 13, and 14 September.

Other artists on the 2014 festival include: The Company, The Jar, Cloudstreet, The Poachers, Rebecca Wright and Donald Mackay, Steve Tyson and the New Felons, Stockade and more.

The festival aims to provide an atmosphere of community and inclusion for the south-east corner of Queensland by showcasing the established and up and coming talents of this corner of the world, as well as featuring acts from around Australia.

The main festival area (stage and bar) incorporates a magnificent old tree, atmospherically lit at night. You may wish to bring your own chair or picnic blanket for the concerts.

Thanks to The Bug and The Pockets

Thanks to Brisbane Unplugged Gigs (The Bug) and The Pockets for a fantastic night of music at New Farm Bowls. It was such a pleasure playing in a listening venue with great sound (Mark Smith).

I loved the old-timey four-part harmonies and ukuleles of The Pockets. Such beautiful voices and gentle songs. Will definitely try to see them play again soon.

Thanks also to everyone who came down on a Tuesday night. You were a fab audience! See you around Brisbane again soon.

NOTE: this venue is near Suncorp Stadium and (since we booked it) the Broncos have scheduled a 3pm game on this day. We recommend catching a train to either Milton Station (short walk around stadium to Caxton St) OR Roma St Station (slightly longer walk through Barracks and straight down Caxton St) to get to venue. Or take a bus to Caxton St. 🙂
