Dushoni Productions welcome everyone to come along to our Winter Home Concert on Saturday – AUGUST 27th, featuring two of Queensland’s finest musical talents – Karen Anderson, supported by her Fortunate Sinners, and Chanel Lucas, from the folk-pop act, “women in docs”.
Karen and the Sinners are popular regulars at the Brisbane Jazz Club and there is not a seat available in the house when they play. With a quirky mix of material spanning the genres of jazz blues soul and re-workings of contemporary songs, there is always a surprise in a Sinners set.
Karen has been a well known presence on the local music and theatre scene for many years, and has performed at many festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Jazz Festival and the Bay of Island Jazz and Blues Festival in New Zealand. She is known for her powerful and emotive vocal performance and has released 4 CDs, including a recent live CD with the Sinners.
The Sinners are made up of some of Brisbane’s finest musicians. With the calibre of Dale Rabic on keys/organ, John Hogan on guitar, Dr Bob Harley on bass and Steve Francis on drums, the songs fly. Come and join us for a relaxed and intimate gig!
Warm, pure vocals and gentle folk guitar are Chanel’s signature sound, and Chanel will open the concert with the first set. Her music allows you to stop and take a breath, and enjoy the moments outside of the busy day-to-day. A writer and songwriter, she has travelled across the world with Brisbane folk-pop act ‘women in docs.’ Recently, she has been learning to play the ukulele and writing songs for a solo project.
